Community Life at Tantur

Tantur’s vision of community is rooted in hospitality to the other without defining who the other is - be it bishop, priest, pastor, religious brother or sister, atheist, local or international. While we do not get to choose the other, we do get to encounter and invite them inside our doors, as a witness to the great respect and dignity of the other. At the end of the day, our sense of a shared humanity and a shared world with shared struggles always is larger than everything else. This is the definition of the ecumenism we seek to foster if only for a short period of time, “on a hill in Jerusalem, near Bethlehem.”
