Every year in January we are reminded of Jesus’ prayer for his disciples that “they may be one so that the world may believe” (see John 17.21). In Jerusalem and around the world Christians come together to pray for unity, arrange special ecumenical celebrations and prayer services. This year we are invited by the Middle East Council of Churches to "follow the star in the East" from Matthew 2:2 “We saw the star in the East, and we came to worship him.”. The week of prayer in Jerusalem will take place from Saturday 22nd of January, to Sunday 30th of January.
